1964年出生于加拿大魁北克的Alma。ÉmileGaudreaultbeganhisprofessionalcareerwritingandperformingcomedyonstagefrom1986to1990withLeGroupeSanguin,directedbyRobertLepage.Hethenbuiltasolidreputationbywritinganddirectingshowsforstandupcomics,includingMichelCourtemanche.ThisledhimtowritefortelevisionandhewasoneofthewritersontheseriesUngarsUnefille.Forthebigscreen,heco-wroteLouis19,leroidesondes,whichenjoyedthelargestboxofficetakeinCanadain1994.AremakeentitledEdtvwaslaterproducedinHollywooddirectedbyRonHoward.Gaudreaultstartedhisowndirectingcareerin2001withthecomedyNuitdenocesandfollowedthatwiththethehighlysuccessfulMamboItaliano,fromascriptheco-wrote.Thefilmwasdistributedin30countries.In2004,heco-wroteIdoleInstantanée,directedbyYvesDesgagnésandin2007,heco-wroteanddirectedSurvivingMyMother,whichwontheBestCanadianfilmattheMontrealInternationalFilmFestival.Depèreenflicishisfourthfeaturefilm.
