NadjaUhl(born23May1972inStralsund,EastGermany)isaGermanactress.ShestudiedattheFelixMendelssohnBartholdyCollegeofMusicandTheatreinLeipzigbetween1990and1994,beginninghercareerasatheatreactressattheHansOttoTheaterinPotsdamin1994.There,sheopenedamusichallwithhercompanionKayBockholdin2006.Shefirstappearedinafilmin1993(ThomasKoerfer'sDerGrüneHeinrich,playingAgnes'role),butin2000sheattractedinternationalattentionactinginVolkerSchlöndorff'sTheLegendofRita(DieStillenachdemSchuß).InthisfilmsheplayedTatjana,anEastGermanwaitresswhorebelsagainstthesystemofhercountry.Duetoherworkinthisfilm,shewontheSilverBearforBestActressattheBerlinInternationalFilmFestivalandwasnominatedforBestSupportingActressattheDeutscherFilmpreis(GermanFilmAwards).In2002sheappearedinTwinSisters(DeTweeling),directedbyDutchdirectorBenSombogaartandbasedonthenovelTheTwins,abestsellerbyTessadeLoo.HeresheplayedAnna,Lotte'ssister.Theyareseparatedfromeachotherafterthedeathoftheirparents;theSecondWorldWarandtheHolocaustwillconsolidatetheirsituation.Thefilmwasa76thAcademyAwardsnomineeforAcademyAwardforBestForeignLanguageFilmof2003.In2005sheplayedtheroleofNicoleinSummerinBerlin(SommervormBalkon),directedbyAndreasDresen,andwasnominatedforBestActressattheGermanFilmAwards.In2006sheplayedKatjaDöbbelininDieSturmflut,directedbyJorgoPapavassiliou.ThissuccessfulRTLTVminiseriesfocusedontheNorthSeafloodof1962,whichleft315dead.In2008sheparticipatedinUliEdel'sDerBaaderMeinhofKomplex,basedonthebestsellerofthesametitlebyStefanAust;thefilmandthebookarebasedonrealevents.Inthefilm,NadjaUhlplaysBrigitteMohnhaupt,amemberoftheRedArmyFaction(RoteArmeeFraktionorR.A.F.,aGermanterroristgroupofMarxistideologyactivefromthelate1960sto1998),andleaderofitssecondgeneration.Alsoin2008,NadjaUhlparticipatedinaTVproduction,alsobasedonrealevents,abouttheLufthansaFlight181hijacking(duringtheGermanAutumnof1977),whichwasperpetratedbyfourterroristsofthePopularFrontfortheLiberationofPalestineincollusionwiththeR.A.F.Here,NadjaUhlplaysflightattendantGabrieleDillmann,whowasoneofthevictimsofthehijacking.Coincidentally,atthemomentofthehijacking,theR.A.F.'sleaderwasBrigitteMohnhaupt.NadjaUhlhasadaughter,born28October2006.
