StanleyJ."Tiny"Sandford(February26,1894–October29,1961)wasatall,burlyactorwhoisbestrememberedforhisrolesinLaurelandHardyandCharlieChaplinfilms.Hewasusuallycastasacomicheavy,andoftenplayedpolicemen,doormen,prizefighters,orbullies.SandfordwasborninOsage,Iowa,in1894.Afterworkinginstocktheaterhebeganactinginmoviesaround1910.HeappearedinTheGoldRushwithCharlieChaplin.OtherChaplinfilmsthatheappearedinincludeTheCircus(1928)andModernTimes(1936),whereheplays"BigBill".HisfilmswithLaurelandHardyincludeBigBusiness(1929),DoubleWhoopee(1929),TheChimp(1932),andOurRelations(1936).HeappearedinTheWarrior'sHusbandasaclumsyandcowardlyHercules.SandfordalsoactedinWayOutWest,buthissequencewascutfromthefinaltake.HealsoappearedindramassuchasTheWorld'sChampion(1922)andTheIronMask(1929).Heretiredfromactingin1940,theyearhehadaverysmallroleinCharlieChaplin'sTheGreatDictator.HediedinLosAngeles,CaliforniaonOctober29,1961.
