NellyKaplan(born11April1936inBuenosAires)[1][2]isanArgentine-bornFrenchwriterwhofocusesonthearts,filmandfilmmakers.ShestudiedeconomicsattheUniversityofBuenosAires.[1]Passionateaboutcinema,sheabruptlyputherstudiesonholdtogotoParistorepresentthenewArgentinefilmarchiveataninternationalconventionandlaterbecameacorrespondentfordifferentArgentinenewspapers.ShemetAbelGancein1954,whogavehertheopportunitytoworkonthefilmLatourdeNesle.[1]ShebecamehisassistantduringthefilmandshowedtheprogramMagirama(triplescreen)inPolyvision,then,stillatAbelGance'sside,shecollaboratedwithhimonAusterlitz.Hetrustedherwiththedirectionofallthesecondcrew'sactionscenesduringthefilmingofhismovieCyranoetd'Artagnan.Meanwhile,shepublishedherworkaboutMagiramaunderthenameLeManifested'unartnouveau,withaprefacebyPhilippeSoupault.In1960,shepublishedafilmreportentitledLeSunlightofAusterlitz,throughthePlonpublishinghouse.Startingin1961,shedirectedanentireseriesofartshorts,whichwonnumerousprizesinvariousinternationalfestivals.Amongtheseshortswere"GustaveMoreau,"abrilliantanalysisofageniuspainterattheoriginofessentiallyallmodernart;"RudolpheBresdin,"theengraver;"Dessinsetmerveilles,"onthesketchbooksofVictorHugo,aswellas"Lesannées25","LaNouvelleOrangerie";"AbelGancehieretdemain","Alasource,lafemmeaimée",titlesbasedonthesecretnotebooksofthepainterAndréMasson.
