People'sArtistoftheUSSR(1976),HeroofSocialistLabour(1987).OlegYefremovwasmarriedtoSovremennikTheatreactressAllaPokrovskaya.TheirsonMikhailalsoanactor.In1949hegraduatedfromMoscowArtTheatreSchool-StudioandbecameanactorandlateraproduceroftheCentralChildrenTheater,startedteachingatSchool-Studiobyhimself.OlegYefremovdebutedasafilmactorinthemelodramaTheFirstEchelon(Pervyyeshelon)in1955.Sincethenhewasregularlyintofilming,andhiseveryappearanceonscreenturnedtobearealeventformillionsofspectators.SomeofhismostremarkablerolesarethoseinthefilmsTheQuickandtheDead(Zhivyeimyortvye)(1964),melodramaThreePoplarsinPlyushcikha(TritopolyanaPlyushchikhe)(1967),Shine,Shine,MyStar(Gori,gori,moyazvezda)(1969),comediesAybolit-66(1966),andBewareoftheCar(Beregisavtomobilya)(1966).In1956,havinggatheredaroundhimselfstudentsandgraduatesoftheSchool-Studio,bothhiscoevalsandpupils,OlegYefremovorganizedtheStudioofYoungActors(subsequently—theMoscowfamousSovremennikTheaterandbecameitsfirstdirector.Since1970hewasanactorandaChiefProduceroftheMoscowArtTheatrenamedafterMaximGorky.In1976theactorbecameaProfessorofMoscowArtTheatreSchool-Studio.
