英年早逝的前苏联杰出电影导演，CC收录其两部长片发行于Eclipse系列。LarisaEfimovnaShepitko(Russian:Лари́саЕфи́мовнаШепи́тько;Ukrainian:ЛарисаЮхимівнаШепітько;6January1938–2July1979)wasaSovietfilmdirector,screenwriterandactress.In1967sheshotthesecondofthethreestoriesinthe“Beginningofanunknownera”entitled“Homelandofelectricity”.Thefirstandthesecondstorieswereprojected20yearslater.Thelastonehasn’tbeenfoundyet.In1969sheshotherfirstcolorfilm,amusicalfantasyfilmtitledInthe13thhourofthenight,aNewYear'srevuestarringVladimirBasov,GeorgyVitsin,ZinovyGerdt,SpartakMishulinandAnatolyPapanov.Shepitko'sthirdfilmwasYouandI(1971).Thiswashersecondfilmincolor,andthelast.ItwasfavorablyreceivedattheVeniceFilmFestival,butlackedproperpublicexposureintheSovietUnion.TheAscent(1977)washerlastcompletedfilmandtheonewhichgarneredthemostattentionintheWest.TheactorsBorisPlotnikovandVladimirGostyukhinreceivedtheirfirstmajorrolesinthefilm.Init,ShepitkoreturnstothesufferingsofWorldWarII,chroniclingthetrialsandtribulationsofagroupofpartisansinBelarusinthebleakwinterof1942.TwoofthepartisansarecapturedbytheWehrmachtandtheninterrogatedbyalocalcollaborator,playedbyAnatolySolonitsyn,beforeoneofthemisexecutedinpublic.ThisdepictionofthemartyrdomoftheSovietsowesmuchtoChristianiconography.TheAscentwontheGoldenBearatthe27thBerlinInternationalFilmFestivalin1977.
