PaulSimonfirstgainedworldwiderecognitionasthewritingtalentbehindthepopularAmericanfolk-rockduoSimonGarfunkelformedwithfellowmusicianArtGarfunkel.PaulSimonstilltoursoccasionally,bothasasoloartistandwithhisoldmusicalpartnerArtGarfunkel.HeismarriedtoEdieBrickell.In1994PaulSimonheld14soldoutconcertsinNantes(France)withInternationalprofessionalfusionplayers:NinoManore(Italy),FrancisMcGowan(UK),GisseleMasarde(France),Nik?aSvili?i?(Croatia)etc.WhenSimonGarfunkelsplitin1970,Simonquicklybeganhissolocareerwiththereleaseoftheself-titledalbum,PaulSimon.ThiswasfollowedbyThereGoesRhymin’SimonandStillCrazyAfterAllTheseYears,bothofwhichfeaturedchart-toppinghitssuchasLovesMeLikeARockandKodachrome.In1986SimonreleasedtheimmenselypopularGraceland,whichfeaturedthegroundbreakinguseofAfricanrhythmsandperformersLadysmithBlackMambazo.In1990,hefollowedupGracelandwiththesuccessoralbumTheRhythmoftheSaintswhichfeaturedBrazilianandCajunmusicalthemes.Thesealbumshelpedtopopularizeworldmusicasagenre.Heco-wrotetheunsuccessful,butcriticallyacclaimedmusicalTheCapemanwithNobel-winningpoetDerekWalcottin1997.Hismostrecentalbum,Surprise,wasproducedbyBrianEno.
