MarkStevenJohnson(bornOctober30,1964)isanAmericanfilmdirectorandwriter.JohnsonwasborninHastings,MinnesotaandattendedCaliforniaStateUniversity,LongBeach.Hehasdirectedandco-writtenthetwocomicbookbasedfilmsDaredevilandGhostRider.HisearlywritingcreditsareforthefilmGrumpyOldMenanditssequelGrumpierOldMen.HeisoftengivencreditforwritingthescreenplayfortheMarvelfilmElektra,butheonlyproducedanearlierdraftnotusedforthefinishedfilm.HewaswritingthepilotfortheTVadaptationofPreacherforHBO,howeverasofAugust26,2008theprojecthadbeencanceledbythenewheadofHBO.In2010,Johnsonattachedhimselftodirecttheaction-thriller,"Recoil,"aboutaformerFBIsniperdraggedbackintoactionwhenhisex-wifeistargetedbyaderangedSniper.NicolasCagewasinnegotiationtore-teamwithhisGhostRiderdirector,butwordnowhasproducersouttoanevenbiggermalelead."Recoil"waswrittenbyAdamGreenbaumandChristopherTaylorandre-writtenbyJohnson.In2011,Johnsonattachedhimselftodirectanotheraction-thriller,"Autobahn,"inwhichanunassumingmaninasportscarlearnshiscarisoutfittedwithadeadlybombandhemustracetoacertainlocationinshortordertokillapre-determinedtargetorhisfamilywillbekilled.ThescriptwaswrittenbyGreggRusso,butJohnsonwilllikelyre-write.ThestoryiscurrentlysetinGermany,butthatcouldchange.
