Hestartedactingattheageof6,onthestageofhisschoolinBirigüi,SãoPaulo.HegraduatedwithadegreeinlawfromthePontificalCatholicUniversityofSãoPaulo(PUC-SP)in1997,butheneverpracticedit.Hisdreamofbecomingactorwasdelayedbyhismodelingcareer.Hewasasuccessfulmodelforeightyearsofwhichtwowereoverseas,withahouseinParis,butallthewhilehewastravelingtosuchcitiesasNewYork,London,Berlin,andMilan.Hewasunhappy,though,anddecidedtoresumehispursuitofanactingcareer.In2001,hehadhisfirstsignificantregularroleinthesoapopera,LaçosdeFamília.Heplayedtheroleof"Edu",adoctorwhogotinvolvedwithawomanmanyyearsolderthanhewas-playedbyactressVeraFischer.In2002,GianecchiniwaschosentobetheexclusivetopmodelforArmaniinBrazil,apositionheapparentlystillholdstothisdate(MariaFernandaCandido,hisco-starinEsperança,isthefemaleequivalentforArmani).SinceAugust2011,Gianecchinihasbeenbattlingagainstcancer(angioimmunoblasticT-celllymphoma)andhasundergonechemotherapytreatment.[
