DanCruickshank(born26August1949)isanarthistorianandBBCtelevisionpresenter,withaspecialinterestinthehistoryofarchitecture.EarlylifeAsayoungchildhelivedforsomeyearsinPoland.HisfatherwasajournalistbasedinWarsaw.ProfessionalcareerCruickshankholdsaBAinArt,DesignandArchitecture[1]andwasformerlyaVisitingProfessorintheDepartmentofArchitectureattheUniversityofSheffieldandamemberoftheLondonfacultyoftheUniversityofDelaware.HeisanHonoraryFellowoftheRoyalInstituteofBritishArtists,amemberoftheExecutiveCommitteeoftheGeorgianGroupandontheArchitecturalPaneloftheNationalTrust,andisanHonoraryFellowofRIBA.[1]HehasservedasHistoricBuildingsConsultantforADAMArchitecturesince1999andhasbeeninvolvedintherepairandrestorationofmanyhistoricalbuildingsincludingSpencerHouseinStJames’s,HeveninghamHallinSuffolkandnumerousearly18thcenturyhousesinSpitalfieldsandotherpartsofLondon.HisprofessionalpublicationsincludeLondon-theArtofGeorgianBuildings,TheNationalTrustandIrishGeorgianSocietyGuidetotheGeorgianBuildingsofBritainandIrelandand‘’LifeintheGeorgianCity’’.Heeditedthe20theditionofSirBanisterFletcher’sHistoryofArchitectureandTimelessArchitecture:astudyofkeybuildingsinarchitecturalhistoryandisacontributingeditortoArchitects’Journal,TheArchitecturalReviewandPerspectivesonArchitecture.
