RezoGigineishviliisaGeorgianfilmdirectorborninTbilisiin1982.HecurrentlylivesandworksbothinGeorgiaandRussia.HestudiedattheGerasimovInstituteofCinematography(VGIK).Whilestillatuniversity,RezoworkedassecondunitdirectorofFedorBondarchuk'sboxofficehitsThe9thCompany(2005)andTheInhabitedIsland(2007).Hedirectedhisfeaturedebut'Heat'in2006.Withabudgetof$1.4M,thefilmgrossed$15.7MinternationallyandstillsstandsasatopboxofficeearnerinRussia.'Heat'attractedattentiontoRezoasastrongyoungtalentinRussiaandthepost-Sovietstates.In2012Rezowroteanddirectedtheromanticcomedy'Lovewithaccent'inGeorgia.Itfeaturedahigh-profileinternationalcastfromRussia,Georgiaandotherpost-Sovietcountries.ThefilmwasacommercialsuccessbothinRussiaandGeorgia.Asaresult,thesequeltothefilm,'Noborders',whichwasshootinGeorgia,Armenia,RussiaandKazakhstan,wasreleasedin2015.RezoGigineishviliisanestablishedcommercialdirectorwhoistransitioningintoauteurcinema,emphasizinghisdirectorialsignatureandcommitmenttotheaudience.With'Hostages'heisfocusingfullyontheissuesthatconcernhimasanartist.
