SusanOliver(bornCharlotteGercke,February13,1932–May10,1990)wasanAmericanactress,televisiondirectorandaviator.Bythelate1970swithactingassignmentsbecomingscarcer,Oliverturnedtodirecting.Shewasoneoftheoriginal19womenadmittedtotheAmericanFilmInstitute'sDirectingWorkshopforWomen(AFIDWW)"who,uponherearlydeath,leftagoodchunkoffundingfortheDWW."[9]In1977,shewroteanddirectedCowboysan,herAFIDWWshortfilmwhichpresentsthefantasyscenarioofaJapaneseactorandactressplayingleadsinanAmericanwestern.OliverdirectedtwoTVepisodes,theOctober25,1982installmentofM*A*S*HandtheDecember4,1983entryofoneofitssequelseries,TrapperJohn,M.D..[1]InOliver'slastfullyactiveyears,shealsoappearedintheFebruary21,1985episodeofMagnum,P.I.,twoepisodesofMurder,SheWrote(March31andDecember1),theFebruary12,1987episodeofSimon&Simon,andtheJanuary10,1988episodeoftheNBCdomesticdramaOurHouse.ShemadeherlastonscreenappearanceintheNovember6,1988episodeofthesyndicatedhorroranthologyFreddy'sNightmares.DuringhercareerinHollywood,Oliverappearedinmorethanonehundredtelevisionprograms.[1]
