ZoeLundwasbornZoeTamerlistoaSwedishmotherandRomanianfatheronFebruary9,1962inNewYorkCity.Shewasanaccomplishedcomposer/musiciananddevoutpoliticalactivistatanearlyage.In1981atage19,LundgaveastunningperformanceasThana,amousy,mutegarmentworkerandrapevictimwhoviolentlystrikesbackagainstmaleoppressionandexploitationofwomeninAbelFerrara'soutstandingdistaffvigilantecultclassicMs.45(1981).ShewaslikewiseexcellentandimpressiveinademandingdualroleasbothamurderedaspiringSouthernBelleactressandthelookalikeNewYorkwomanwhowasusedtoreplaceherinLarryCohen'sniftythrillerSpecialEffects(1984).From1980to1985,LundlivedandworkedwithcriticandfilmmakerEdouard(Yves)DeLaurot.ShedidaguestspotonanepisodeofMiamiVice(1984)andappearedasherselfintheracydocumentaryHeavyPetting(1989).Lundco-wrotethescriptforandhadasupportingroleasadrugaddictinFerrara'scrimedramaBadLieutenant(1992).Lundwasastaunchadvocateofheroindruguse.Inaddition,shewasaprofessionalmodelinher20sandawriterwhopennedvariousessays,shortstories,novelsandfilmscripts(oneoftheseunfinishedscreenplayswasaboutsupermodelGiaCarangi;LundappearsasaninterviewsubjectinthedocumentaryTheSelf-DestructionofGia(2003)(inwhichshecandidlydiscussesherownheroinuse).In1993,Lundwrote,directedandstarredintheoneandahalfminuteshortfeatureHotTicket(1993).ZoeLundwasworkingonashortstoryanthologywhenshediedofdrug-relatedheartfailureatthetragicallyyoungageof37inParis,FranceonApril16,1999.
