HazelCourt(10February1926–15April2008)wasanEnglishactressbestknownforherrolesinhorrorfilmsduringthe1950sandearly1960s.EarlylifeCourtwasborninSuttonColdfield,Warwickshire,livedintheBoldmereareaandattendedBoldmereSchoolandHighclareCollege.HerfatherwasG.W.Court,acricketer,whoplayedforDurhamCCC.Attheageoffourteen,shestudieddramaattheBirminghamRepertoryTheatreandtheAlexandraTheatre,alsoinBirmingham,England.CareerAttheageofsixteen,CourtmetfilmdirectorAnthonyAsquithinLondon;themeetinggainedherabriefpartinChampagneCharlie(1944).CourtwonaBritishCriticsAwardforherroleasacrippledgirlinCarnival(1946)andalsoappearedinHolidayCamp(1947)andBondStreet(1948).HerfirstroleinafantasyfilmwasinGhostShip(1952).DevilGirlfromMars(1954)wasalow-budgetfilmproducedbytheDanzigerBrothers.CourttrainedattheRankOrganisation's"charmschool".Shewantedtoactincomedyfilmsbutalsocontinuedtoappearinhorrorfilmsand,in1957,hadwhatwastobecomeacareer-definingroleinthefirstcolourHammerHorrorfilmTheCurseofFrankenstein(1957).Inthe1957–58televisionseason,sheco-starredinaCBSsitcomfilmedinEngland,DickandtheDuchess,intheroleofJaneStarrett,apatricianEnglishwomanmarriedtoanAmericaninsuranceclaimsinvestigatorlivinginLondon,aroleplayedbyPatrickO'Neal.[3]CourttravelledbackandforthbetweenHollywoodandEngland,appearinginfourepisodesofAlfredHitchcockPresents.ShehadpartsinAWomanofMystery(1958),TheManWhoCouldCheatDeath(1959)andDoctorBlood'sCoffin(1961)amongothers.PersonallifeFrom1964untilhisdeathin1998,shewasmarriedtoAmericanactorDonTaylor.TheymetwhiletheywereshootinganepisodeofAlfredHitchcockPresents.Theyhadason,Jonathan,andadaughter,Courtney.
