UmbertoLenziwasanItalianfilmdirector,screenwriter,andnovelist.Afanoffilmsinceyoungage,LenzistudiedattheCentroSperimentalediCinematografiaandmadehisfirstfilmin1958whichwentunreleased,whilehisofficialdebuthappenedin1961withQueenoftheSeas.Lenzi'sfilmsofthe1960sfollowedpopulartrendsoftheera,whichledtohimdirectingseveralspyanderoticthrillerfilms.Hefollowedinsuitinthe1970smakinggiallofilms,crimefilmsandmakingthefirstItaliancannibalfilmwithManfromtheDeepRiver.Hecontinuedmakingfilmsupuntilthe1990sandlaterworkedasanovelistwritingaseriesofmurdermysteries.
