WendyTilbyandAmandaForbisareaCanadiananimationduo.OnJanuary24,2012,theyreceivedtheirsecondAcademyAwardnomination,fortheNationalFilmBoardofCanada(NFB)animatedshortfilm,WildLife.Inadditiontowritinganddirectingthefilm,ForbisandTilbydrewandpaintedeveryanimationframeinguache,andwrotethelyricsforthefilm'sfinalsong.TheywereonlyabletoworkonWildLifepart-time,duetocommercialobligations,andthefilmisreportedtohavetakenthemfromsixtooversevenyears,fromconcepttocompletion.TheywerepreviouslynominatedforanAcademyAwardforBestAnimatedShortFilmfortheir1999NFBfilmWhentheDayBreaks.Tilbywasalsonominatedindividuallyforher1991NFBshortStrings.TilbystudiedvisualartsandliteratureattheUniversityofVictoriabeforestudyingfilmandanimationattheEmilyCarrInstituteofArtandDesign.ForbisattendedtheUniversityofLethbridgeaswellastheEmilyCarrInstituteofArtandDesign.Hersolocreditsincludeanimationworkonthe1995NFBshortTheReluctantDeckhand.BothoriginallyfromAlberta,theyfirstmetinVancouverattheEmilyCarrCollegeofArtandDesign.In2003,theyrelocatedfromMontrealtoCalgary,whereForbiswasraised.InadditiontotheirNFBwork,theyhavecollaboratedonworkshopsandcommercials,workingwithLosAngeles-basedAcmeFilmworksonmajoradcampaigns,mostnotablyforUnitedAirlines.In2007,theyfoundedtheBleakMidwinterFilmFestivalintheirhomeneighbourhoodofInglewood,Calgary.
