GeraldKarglborn1953inVillach,Austria,isawriteranddirector,famousforthepsycho-thriller"Angst"(1983).Karglstartedexperimentingwiththefilmcamerawhenhewas14.Thisresultedinalargenumberofshortfilms.Between1976and1982hefoundedandorganizedtheAustrianfilmfestival,DieÖsterreichischenFilmtage.AtthesametimehewasfounderandeditoroftheAustrianfilmmagazineFilmschrift.Between1984and1994GeraldKarglworkedonmorethan100commercialsandpromotionalfilmsaswriter,directorandproducer,receivingmorethan30nationalandinternationalawards,CannesandClioAwardsamongothers.1996hefoundedandproducedtheHotel-TVCityLightsandsoldtheprojectin2002.Since1994todatehewrote,directedandproducedmorethan20documentariesandeducationalfilms."Angst"isbasedonanactualcaseoftriple-murder,the"Kniesekcase",whereWernerKniesekkilledthreepeopleinSt.Pölten,Austria,outofpurelustin1980."Angst"isacollaborativeeffortofwriter/directorGeraldKarglandhisco-writer-cameramanZbigniewRybczynski,andthecomposerKlausSchulze,fromthe"Krautrock"-groupTangerineDream.
