KevinBrownlow(bornon2June1938,Crowborough,Sussex)isafilmmaker,filmhistorian,televisiondocumentary-maker,author,andAcademyAwardrecipient.Brownlowisbestknownforhisworkdocumentingthehistoryofthesilentera.Brownlowbecameinterestedinsilentfilmattheageofeleven.Thisinterestgrewintoacareerspentdocumentingandrestoringfilm.Hehasrescuedmanysilentfilmsandtheirhistory.Hisinitiativeininterviewingmanylargelyforgotten,elderlyfilmpioneersinthe1960sand1970spreservedalegacyofcinema.BrownlowreceivedanAcademyHonoraryAwardatthe2ndAnnualGovernorsAwardsgivenbytheAcademyofMotionPictureArtsandSciencesonNovember13,2010.
