NachoMartínez(8July1952–24July1996),bornIgnacioMartínezNavia-Osorio,wasaSpanishactor.BorninMieres,Asturiasin1952,MartínezbeganhisfilmcareerasTasio'sbrotherinthemovieTasiodirectedbyMontxoArmendárizin1984.However,thecharacterforwhichhewillbemostrememberedforisthebullfighterinthefilmMatadorin1986,PedroAlmodóvar,whereheco-starredwithaveryyoungAntonioBanderas.WithAlmodóvar,healsoactedinLawofDesire(1987)aswellasHighHeels(1991).In1986,MartínezwasacandidateforFotogramasdePlataasbestactor,coincidedwithÁngelaMolinainLaMitaddelCielo,byManuelGutiérrezAragón,andhadasmallroleinthecultmovieViajeaNingunaParte,directedbyFernandoFernánGómez.Alongwithhisfilmcareer,Martínezhadalongcareerasavoiceactorindubbing,film,andcartoons.Martínezdiedafteralongbattlewithlungcancerattheageof44,whichcutshortthecareerofoneofthemostinfluentialSpanishactorsofthe1980s.In2006,MartínezwasrememberedatthetwentietheditionoftheGoyaAwards.
