JoanMaxineCopeland(néeMiller;bornJune1,1922)isanAmericanactress.SheistheyoungersisterofplaywrightArthurMiller.Shebeganhercareerduringthemid-1940s,appearingintheatreinNewYorkCity,where,shortlythereafter,shewouldbecomeoneoftheveryfirstmembersadmittedtothenewlyformedActorsStudio.[1]Shemovedintotelevisionandfilmduringthe1950s.whilestillmaintaininganactivestagecareer.Sheisbestknownforherperformancesinthe1977BroadwayrevivalofPalJoeyandherawardwinningperformanceinthe1981playTheAmericanClock.Shehasalsoplayedanumberofprominentrolesonvarioussoapoperasthroughouthercareer,includingAndreaWhitingonSearchforTomorrowandGwendolynLordAbbottonOneLifetoLive.
